Polistil in the 80s

in the 80s (at the end of 1978, to be honest) the series CHAMPION 175 is born. Under this denomination a set of very well detailed formula 1 in 1:32 scale cars is producesdbut the most important news of those years is the availability (20 years later than Scalextrics) of a whole set of accessories like "chicane" straights, curves of different radius, traffic lights, pit lanes, empowered power supply, etc... allowing the building of awesome tracks.

The Champion 175 series is completed at first with four closed wheels cars: Fiat 131 Alitalia, BMW 320 Black Carling, the BMW M1 and the Ferrari 208 GTB.
Later the Lancia Beta Montecarlo, the Audi Quattro Rally, the Lancia Delta S4 and the Peugeot 205 will be added to the series.

Champion 175 HP vs Champion 175 SuperHP

All the CHAMPION 175 models share the same design: chassis holding the rear axle-engine assembly (a solution already seeen in '60s for the 1/24 cars). Beside this line Polistil sells the Super HP line (known as SHP). The SHP cars are provided with a shorter chassis, a more powerful motor, three rear axle with aluminium rims and "tubeless" tyres.

The success of these slot cars gave to the Italian Slot a new momentuum.

The Champion 80 series
