The sport-prototype from the 70s
The 1/24 tracks required a lot of space (and money) so in 1968 Policar launches its luckiest series: the 1/32 scale "prototipi". This series is composed by 19 models and, except for two fantasy cars, they reproduce the best and the most peculiar sport cars of the '70s. Also this line is accompanied by several solutions of 2 or 4 lanes home tracks.
The success of this set of models is wide, so that a "parallel line" is made in Spain under the brand "Poly". A peculiar fact about the production of Poly is the 1/32 "De Tomaso Mangusta", a model which never built in 1/32 scale.
All the models share the same chassis, motor and tyres, and the scale is somewhat lesser then 1/32 (the scale seems to be around is 1/36), in spite of this the 1/32 "Sport-Prototipo" slot cars are indeed the more known and wanted series by collectors, one of the reasons is the high number of model-colour combinations produced and sold.
Dune Buggies and rally cars
Besides the "golden series" of the "prototipo" Policar production counts on a model of a Dune Buggy set of slotcars (in two colors: blue and red) which based on the same but modified chassis of the prototype allows the model to be run on the special "bubble" tracks sold together with these models.
Always in the seventies Policar launches two beautiful rally cars: the Lancia Fulvia Coupè HF and the Alpine Renault 110. The chassis is the same used in the "Prototipi" series.
DROMOCAR
Tra la fine degli anni '60 e l'inizio degli anni '70, POLICAR crea la linea DROMOCAR in scala 1/43 che vede la nascita di modelli decisamente interessanti come la Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ. Le confezioni base della linea dromocar sono alimentate a batteria e al posto del tradizionale pulsante viene fornito uno scatolotto contenente la pila da 4,5V sormontato da un volantino che aziona il consueto reostato. Nelle versioni successive questa soluzione originale verrà soppiantata dai più tradizionali pulsanti.
La linea DROMOCAR, rivolgendosi pubblico più giovane spazia dai modelli più classici di macchine GT ai Bob sino ad arrivare a produrre set ispirati al mondo Disney. Questa vocazione "giocattolosa" proseguirà nel tempo e ai modelli più "tradizionali" (che annoverano le Formula 1 Ferrari 312B3 e McLaren M23 e una serie pregevole linea di macchine Sport e CanAm) si affiancheranno modelli e piste a tema Batman e Superman fino ad anni '80 e '90 inoltrati.
Nella serie DROMOCAR sono contemplati anche i sulky". E' difficile considerare questi oggetti delle vere e proprie slot car ma sono oggetti particolari, rari e fragili, trovarli in buone condizioni è molto difficile.
POLICAR becomes Polistil
In 1974 the brand "Policar" which identified the slot lixne, become incorporated to Polistil and the production of slot
cars enters a not so "glorious" phase as the previous: cars are heavy, slow and awkward: the EVOLUTION line is born.
